As a unique behavioral health hospital treatment center in Columbus, Ohio, Mount
Carmel Behavioral Health is a leading provider of inpatient and outpatient
psychiatric treatment, behavioral health treatment, and mental health
treatment. We serve adults age 18 and older who have been experiencing symptoms
of various psychiatric concerns, including bipolar disorder, anxiety,
posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD),
depression, schizophrenia, suicidal ideation, self-harm, and more. Many people
also come to us seeking therapies and treatment for eating disorders,
addiction, or substance use disorders that are co-occurring with a primary
mental health disorder. Mount Carmel Behavioral Health has a residential
treatment center that provides support and supervision round-the-clock for
patients. This inpatient treatment center program offers security, stability,
and the opportunity for patients to get away from outside triggers and
stressors, allowing them to focus on their goals for healing during treatment.
The average duration of our inpatient treatment program is five to seven days.
Our intensive outpatient program (IOP) is for adults age 18 and older who are
in need of treatment for mental health concerns but do not need the 24/7
supervision that our inpatient program provides. This intensive outpatient
program provides a balanced approach to care that may be ideal for those who
have completed an inpatient program and are ready for step-down support. It
also may be beneficial for many patients who need treatment that is a step up
from traditional outpatient therapy. The typical length of stay in our
intensive outpatient program is about 10 weeks. For adult patients who are
experiencing symptoms and effects of posttraumatic stress disorder, Mount
Carmel Behavioral Health also offers a comprehensive trauma program in
Columbus, Ohio. This is our Mosaic Program, which provides individualized and
supportive inpatient care to help patients progress toward a happier, healthier
life after trauma. Our treatment modalities reflect the evidence-based
foundations of therapy, and we offer noncrisis medical care as needed. In
addition, for patients who have the need, pharmacological therapy is provided
as part of the healing process. Patients can meet with a professional five
times a week or more for medication management. This professional will be
either an advanced nurse practitioner or a psychiatrist at Mount Carmel
Behavioral Health. During the time a patient stays with us, our mental health
treatment center provides a wide array of evidence-based services that are
tailored to each patient’s needs. These treatments and services can include
various solution-focused therapies, individual therapy as needed, cognitive
behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), daily group
therapy, family therapy as needed, and daily experiential therapy. At Mount
Carmel Behavioral Health, group therapy is one of the most crucial elements of
the care our patients receive. Topics covered during therapy sessions can
include trauma responses, medications, communication skills, diagnoses, life
skills, emotion regulation, and many others, depending on patients’ needs and
situations. Holistic treatment for mental health concerns doesn’t end when a
patient completes our programs. At Mount Carmel Behavioral Health, we also have
a strong aftercare program available so that patients receive the tools and
support they need to maintain their healthy life long after initial treatment
is complete.
