We choose our friends but not our family. So when we are hurt by a family member the wound runs deep. This is where you can benefit from family therapy. I provide compassionate non judgemental family therapy. My goal is to identify the underlying reasons for the conflicts in your family and help you develop strategies to resolve them. My clients include couples, adults, step parents and adolescents facing stress, relationship problems, parenting challenges and life transition issues. I offer fresh insight, support and guidance to help the family to resolve conflicts and improve communication. I encourage family members to set mutual goals and hold them accountable to follow through.

The "Family Crucible" as coined by the late Carl Whitaker, can be the greatest source of strength in our lives or it can be a source of pain. Our families of origin are always part of us for the rest of our lives. Family therapy helps us to discover who we are and who we want to become as a differentiated person apart from my family. It helps us to grow up and take responsibility for our own lives apart from family influence allowing us to make decisions about our lives, our relationships, and our decisions in general. As a Family Therapist I help people distinguish between healthy and unhealthy families and guide them in their quest for the healthy family they so desire.

Oftentimes, one person will be identified as the problem in a family system, but, oftentimes, they are simply the one who has been showing the symptoms of the dysfunction in the family, rather than themselves having an individual issue. Families can address this by sitting down and talking with each other, with an impartial third party, to discover what is happening within the family and what can be done to fix it.
