However, sometimes life throws challenges at us that overwhelm us because those seeds are not fully developed or simply because the challenge is so large and daunting. I see the role of the therapist as assisting client's in tapping into their innate capacity to cope and heal. From my clinical experience I understand that we are physical, emotional, cognitive and spiritual beings. Therefore, I assess for stressors and strengths in each area. My goal is to assist clients in living authentic lives, increasing resiliency and embracing who they really are.

At the bedrock of what I do as a therapist is the belief that when we live out our values in our lives we are able to be happy in a genuine, healthy and sustainable way. Sounds simple enough, but there is pain in every life, even a well lived one. Our minds are built to maximize pleasure and to avoid pain. It is easy to become focused on avoiding feeling bad and have that consume our lives. Depression, Anxiety, Addiction, even relationship problems all have their roots in our urge to control how we feel and loosing touch with what is meaningful. Helping people get unstuck and live more meaningful lives is my role as therapist and is part of the way I live out my values in my own life.

I have been working with individuals struggling with the spectrum of mental health disorders for 15 years. I have developed an array of interventions clients can utilize to have better quality of life. I like to teach clients how to identify problem areas and stressors in their life and then apply specific interventions. I offer several therapeutic styles to help clients learn how to more effectively manage their mental health problems, however, I prefer to focus on applying CTB, DBT and Mindfulness Based therapies which help clients to manage their emotions, improve interpersonal effectiveness, become more mindful/grounded and learn how to better cope with crisis and distress.
