I rely on biblically based truths to support a person to address mental health issues and regain hope in Jesus Christ. I believe God wants each person to be whole, healed, and mature and therefore, through reliance on Holy Spirit, seek to provide a space to grow, gain self-understanding, effect lasting behavior changes, find healing and freedom, and learn more effective communication skills.

There is a movement toward returning to the Bible for guidance to live a more fulfilling life. This oldest book in the world contains many answers we often overlook. There is wisdom in the parables that Jesus taught. There is insight and humility to be learned in Paul's letters to the churches. We can learn how to forgive, repair "spiritual emptiness," and experience peace in our souls when we open ourselves to the teachings of the Holy Spirit.

I am a born again Christian and I love the opportunity to invite the Holy Spirt into the counseling process and then to see what God is ready and willing to do in your life and your problem. Jesus Christ loves you and wants a relationship with you. Together, we will incorporate bliblical principles and prayer into our counseling work in order to know him better and understand his will for your life and situation.

At Thriveworks, our clinicians can assist you within the counseling process incorporating a faith based approach. With use of psychoeducation and an understanding of biblical principles our clinicians can use this information to guide the counseling focus. This will include biblically based counseling with references to scripture, in line with your individual spiritual beliefs, morals, and values. In the wellness approach to counseling, spirituality is one of the four main domains which is important to address. Common areas include individual counseling, premarital counseling, marital counseling, and parental guidance.

I practice counseling that engages the spiritual life of my clients and that enables them to draw strength from God . The whole therapeutic process intends to honor the being and values of the client, sometimes reminding them of biblical parables and the context of Jesus as healer, but never tryng to steer them toward my personal beliefs. I have had great success using this approach, and have had clients be very comfortable with it. I should note that I also work with clients of other faiths and of no faith, who are aware that I am a Christian and a minister, but who also feel respected.
