Christian counseling is an important designation. It is this world-view (Christ-Centered) that defines our choices. It is in this that we are anchored. Considering sharing the most important part of our lives with a counselor, we need to know that we are both anchored in the same place with the same value system. (2Cor.6.14) Healthy psychology is never inconsistent with scripture. After all, psychology is just man discovering and understanding what God created and how it works. Healthy Christian counseling meets each person where they are and follows the movement of God in their lives. It is never invasive but cooperative with the Holy Spirit and oriented towards hope and healing.

Faith and spirituality can provide comfort and meaning to those guided by their beliefs. I was raised in a Christian household myself so I have an appreciation for the values instilled by religion, the importance of tradition, and the strength of community. My approach to counseling is humanistic and welcoming of all spiritualities. Though I do not incorporate any specific pastoral counsel, I encourage my spiritual clients to draw on their beliefs during the counseling process.
