Addictions can get you in alot of trouble. Arguments with your spouse, DWI's with their related costs, hangovers, missed work, neglecting children, etc. All these troubles cause you pain. Let's say 50 units of pain. Staying sober is also painful. There is the pain of life's stress without the sedative effects of alcohol or coping by drugs. There is also the pain associated with resisting the temptation to use. Just because you stopped doesn't mean freinds, family, and work problems disappear. So let's say the pain of staying sober is also 50 units. The pain of addiction will turn to 60, 80 units etc., while the pain of staying sober turns to 40, 20, etc. One exception-the dry drunk.

Donald Baer, LPC, LMFT

Licensed Professional Counselor

909 W. Magnolia, Suite 20 (Door faces Lipscomb Street), Fort Worth, Texas

From personal experience, I have a good idea of how an addiction can cause problems in many areas of a person's life - work, school, family, friends, legal, etc. And I know how difficult it can be to stop an addictive habit, whether it is an addiction to substances, or an "addiction" to a particular type of behavior. Meet with me and see if you agree that I know what I'm talking about and have some good ideas about what you might do to change your habits.

Addition can keep you from doing what you should be doing. It can keep you from fulfilling your obligations, being productive and living a happy and healthy life. The stress that can come from not being productive and fulfilling obligations just makes things worse. Addiction counseling allows you to explore what you are currently dealing with and develop strategies for improvement.

Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor; Certified Anger Management Specialist; Certified Domestic Violence Specialist

800 West Arbrook Blvd, Ste 340, Arlington / Grand Prairie / Mansfield, Texas

Sexual addiction is difficult to overcome because the addict believes she / he is in control of the addiction. Unfortunately, when the 'urge' hits, the individual is overwhelmed by the need to satisfy the craving for a sexual 'fix'. Guilt, remorse, and shame is a part of the unending cycle. At Christ Centered Counseling clients are taught biblical principles that assist them with overcoming their sexual addiction.

Addiction Counselor

Theresa Kellam, Ph.D., HSP

Licensed Psychologist

2201 Dottie Lynn Parkway, Fort Worth, Texas

Addiction is usually brought on by trying to avoid emotional pain. Our society teaches us to avoid and be ashamed of our emotions. We become disconnected trying not to feel sad or angry or afraid. If someone asked you right now how you feel, would you be able to answer? Where do you feel the emotion in your body? What color, shape, temperature and texture would it be? Learning to become fascinated with our emotions can help us face them. After all, you can't help how you feel, you can only choose how you behave. Working through emotional pain is the ultimate freedom from addiction.

Addiction Counselor

Greg Wells, MABC, LPC - Supervisor

Licensed Professional Counselor - Supervisor

North Richland Hills, Texas

If you are like me, you've tried multiple times to give up whatever your particular addiction may be. A recovering pornography addict myself, I understand addiction. Having served as the Celebrate Recovery pastor at my church for over six years, I'm intimately familiar with the 12-step model, and affirm its effectiveness. However, there is another piece to the puzzle--the 2% Factor. Together, we will identify what that 2% is you've been holding on to that has helped keep you in the chains of addiction. Together, we will help you find freedom from whatever your hurts, habits, or hang-ups may be.

Addiction Counselor

David Ashburner, MA, LPC, CSAT, CHFP

Men and Couples Counselor

Forth Worth, Texas

When there is sex/porn addiction or infidelity standard 1-hour-a-week therapy sometimes is not enough, and inpatient therapy away for 30-60 days is too much. David offers THREE-DAY INTENSIVES that can work toward getting 4-6 months of therapy under your belt, and then continue the work with standard therapy with me or another therapist. If you are serious about stopping the acting out, stopping the lying, and getting healthy this might be an option for you.
