The Arizona Suicide Prevention Coalition dedicates its efforts to stemming the tide of suicides in the Scottsdale area through educational and outreach programs. Children in the Scottsdale Unified School District are taught skills each year to appropriately deal with bullying situations. Whether in class, in the hallway, or online, those who experience or witness bullying are trained to remain calm, stand up for themselves, leave the situation as soon as possible, and report the incident to a trusted adult. School officials provide emotional support, and peer groups provide social support to ensure children that are bullied feel cared for, safe, and welcome at school.
