Carlsbad is a resort city with a population of 109,318.2 It is categorized as an affluent city with a median household income of $77,677 which is substantially higher than the state estimates. Almost three quarters of the population is white while the educational attainment is sizeable since 95% of the population has a high school degree or higher.3 7.3%of the people are suffering from a disability.

The Public Health Services operates in the San Diego County to provide comprehensive health services and collect information about health concerns in this region.4 It has estimated that the rate of anxiety disorders in Carlsbad was 12.1 per 100,000 people, higher than 2010�s estimates. Similarly the rate for Attention Deficiency Disorder and Disruptive behavior is 5.2 per 100,000 while dementia has increased substantially to 27.6 per 100,000. The North County Health Services is a nonprofit organization which provides Mental and Behavioral health services to the residents of this area.5 It treats low income patients by providing health education, food supplement programs, mobile clinics, and community outreach programs. Currently there are many initiatives in the San Diego County creating awareness about issues like suicide and depression. The event Responsible Reporting on Suicide and 2nd Annual Children�s Mental Health Awareness Carnival happened in 2012. Similarly, there have been many online seminars and informational sessions by Health and Human Services Agency in this region.
