She is one of eight. She lost her dad in a freak fire accident. She lost her brother at the hands of gun violence in California.  Is this woman being described someone I look out at from behind speckled glasses or is this someone you look to in your therapy session. How is my therapy a little different than everybody else's out there? I do not actually know because I have not been to any of their therapy sessions. What I do know, is that trauma, pain, discomfort, uneasiness and sadness, are not things that any one person is immune to. I do not pretend to have never experienced any of these emotions. I know firsthand exactly what it feels like to get a phone call that turns your life upside down forever. I know what it is like to put your life on the sidelines for a spouse. I know what it is like to feel that pain. I also, however, know how to turn that pain into triumph. If there is one word that I ask you take away from this bio it would be compassion. Compassion is one of the strongest antidotes in this mad world. Suffering and sadness are not always welcome when they come into our lives but they are expected. They need only stay a short time and I know that these are aspects of life that are not always able to be thrown out without any help.

My name is Terri Knight. I am a state certified Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I received my Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Fairfield University and my Master’s of Business Administration from Atlanta University and worked over 25 years in business and marketing/marketing research with consumer product companies. I have served on a few of the following non-profit boards including; The Open Door Shelter in Norwalk, CT and Convent of the Sacred Heart, an all girls catholic school in Greenwich,CT. I am currently an active board member of Child Advocates  of Southwest CT based in Norwalk, CT.
I am a  program director of Child and Family Guidance at a center based out of Fairfield University. I have been with the agency since 2013 and have had more than 10 years of experience working in social services. Prior to joining CFGC I was a Teaching Assistant in the Marriage and Family Therapy Department at Fairfield University and served as Vice President and Co-owner of The KGroup, LTD where I continue to manage financial operations.

I have considerable expertise in dealing with issues that span various cultures (multicultural) and generations (multi-generational).  My approach is what therapist may call solution focused, an approach that finds people's strengths and builds on a person's innate capacity for change and not simply harping on the negatives in their lives.
I am married with three children and I have a private practice in Norwalk CT.
