My belief is we are here to love and be loved.  My passion is to help clients live their best lives and cultivate healthy relationships. My background in law, mediation, and project management, coupled with experiences from living in other countries, has taught me the value of resiliency in the face of adversity.

Drawing from my diverse background, coupled with my legal training and mediation experience, I bring valuable insights into communication, negotiation, and problem-solving strategies, all of which contribute to my ability to guide individuals and couples towards positive outcomes in therapy.

I am an individual and couples therapist, as well as a grief counselor and mediator. As a therapist, I view my clients with unconditional positive regard, prioritizing their well-being and personal growth. My passion is to help clients live their best lives and cultivate healthy relationships. With a diverse skill set and a deep commitment to your journey, I'm here to guide you towards greater well-being and fulfillment, both individually and in your relationships. Together, we can navigate life's challenges and work towards a brighter, more harmonious future!

Education: I hold a dual Juris Doctor and Bachelor of Civil Law (JD/BCL) from Louisiana State University and a social work degree, MSW, from the University of Houston.

Current Training: I have training in Emotionally Focused Therapy and the Gottman Method, Self-Compassion, and Positive Psychology, all known to bring healing to individuals couples and families. In addition, I hold certificates in Advanced Mind-Body Medicine, Hypnotherapy Intensive Training, and Complicated Grief Therapy (CGT) as well as TEAM-CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy).

Language Proficiencies: I am bilingual in English and Vietnamese.

My areas of focus include:
-COUPLES COUNSELING: I am here to help you sort through the challenges and uncover the hidden strengths within yourselves with the goal of injecting joy to create healing and connection with your partner. And, I will do this in a supportive and caring, non-judgmental way, not taking sides, letting you both feel heard, supported, and understood.
-PRE-MARITAL COUNSELING: Usually an 8-session treatment, I will work with you both to create an  individualized plan to honor your histories, your coming together, and your plans for the future.
-INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING: I realize it can be hard to reach out for help, especially if you are worried about increased conflict in your life, as well as what it is like to talk to someone you’ve never met about private matters. I want to assure you that reaching out is a courageous move. It's far more constructive than remaining in a state of stagnation or adversity.Together, we will collaboratively identify effective strategies to help you through this challenging time in your life. Our aim is to facilitate healing and foster inner peace, not only for yourself but also in your interactions with others.
-GRIEF & LOSS COUNSELING: Change is hard, especially when it arrives in the form of a loved one’s passing, the end of a significant relationship, or estrangement from family or friends. It might also manifest as the loss of a job or home due to circumstances beyond your control or other unforeseen and abrupt transitions. Grieving can feel isolating, frustrating, and confusing as a host of emotions show up, relentless and unbidden. Most of us don’t naturally possess the tools to deal with the intensity of emotion, and so we get stuck, unable to break free from its grip, and uncertain about how to proceed. I can be your companion and witness in grief as you walk this difficult journey. You don’t have to face this alone. Together, we can work towards helping you get unstuck, regaining your footing, and rebuilding your life.
-FAMILY COUNSELING: When there are issues experienced by one person, it can affect the whole family. There are also instances with life transitions where members move too fast or too slow compared to the rest of the family unit, and that can create friction. I work with family units including siblings; parent and adult children; and blended families.
Family counseling, designed to improve communication and the connections among family members, can help. We can explore resources to navigate challenges and work towards a brighter, more harmonious future!
-MEDIATION & CONFLICT RESOLUTION: Whether it is with a co-worker or a family member, relationships are hard and and conflicts are inevitable. Whether you're contemplating divorce or have already made the decision, I can help you use conflict to foster understanding and collaborative problem solving. I have worked with employers and employees to foster better working relationships, helped siblings come up with a mutual agreement regarding a family dispute. I have also used mediation in couples work, ranging from the creation of simple guideposts to slightly more robust agreements. Mediation skills can be used in conjunction with therapy.

When I’m not working, I seek quiet time, like reading and taking in nature. I love springtime and seeing wildflowers in full bloom! I enjoy long lunches, baking, and getting a full 8 hours of sleep!
