Accepting NEW Clients! Do you feel emotionally unsafe, disconnected, or lonely in your marriage or feel as a couple you often communicate angrily or disrespectfully? I have several years’ experience working with couples who feel hopeless, distressed, and ready to call it quits. I received a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Counseling/Therapy from Indiana Wesleyan University. I obtained specialized, advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples and Gottman Method Couples Therapy.

My advanced training consisted of a 6-week EFT intensive in graduate school, and a 5-day Externship under trainers and supervisors from the New York Center for EFT, including Founder and President, George Faller, MS, LMFT, and Executive Director and Vice President, Dr. Zoya Simakhodskaya, PhD. Additionally, I completed a 48-hour advanced Core Skills training under EFT trainer and supervisor, Kenneth Sanderfer, who co-authored the book, Created for Connection: The "Hold Me Tight" Guide for Christian Couples, with renown founder and researcher in EFT for couples, Dr. Sue Johnson, PhD.

EFT for couples is a well-known approach to psychotherapy, developed by Dr. Sue Johnson, PhD, in tandem with the science of adult attachment, a profound developmental theory of personality and intimate relationships. This science has expanded our understanding of the nature of love relationships and family bonds.  Attachment views human beings as innately relational, social, and wired for intimate bonding with others. I can help expand and re-organize key emotional responses to each other, create a positive shift in your interactional positions and unhealthy patterns, and foster the creation of a secure bond between you and your spouse/partner.

Talking to a therapist can bring clarity to your situation and help you decide the best path forward for hope and healing. Couples' work often consists of learning to be vulnerable with each other again, expressing feelings and needs to feel connected, and co-regulating negative emotions to increase the closeness you once experienced. Decreasing the negative cycles of conflict will help strengthen the bond in your relationship and finally bring the healing you seek.

I will make every effort to appreciate each spouse's experience, creating safety for openness and honesty. Whether you struggle with feeling misunderstood, end up in angry stalemates, or have complex issues such as trauma or being a blended family, we will collaborate to increase feelings of connection, decrease angry patterns of negativity and blame, and create hope again.

Contact me today for an appointment and begin the journey of finding hope, healing, and the answers you need for connection, revitalization, or restoration in your relationship.
