I am committed to
providing compassionate and non-judgemental support on your life's path. I
recognize the courage it takes to begin searching for a therapist. Safety and
trust are two pillars of a supportive relationship and this is where we begin,
building a relationship where you feel safe enough to explore what's most
important to you.
I can help you with:
- PTSD and C-PTSD
(shock and developmental trauma)
- attachment, family of origin experience, expectations
Benefits of therapy with me:
- greater relationship
with yourself and others
- emotional
regulation, less emotional outbursts
- increased
capacity for positive thoughts and experiences
- greater access
to voice, choice and self-expression
- reclaiming a
sense of purpose and joy in your life
I work as a somatic relational psychotherapist. My approach to therapy is
based upon a relational lens (Gestalt Therapy) that encompasses the body and
nervous system (Somatic Experiencing and Polyvagal theory) and our earliest
life experiences (Attachment Theory).
My background includes interning at a domestic violence support center and working with
youth and families at local high schools. I work with people who have been
impacted by relational harm at any stage in life. I have training in three
post-master's somatic trauma treatment interventions: Somatic Experiencing,
EMDR, NeuroAffective Touch. I work under the training and supervision of Lena
Axelsson, PsyD., who is a somatic relational therapist with training in
Relational Gestalt Therapy, SE (Somatic Experiencing), NARM (NeuroAffective
Relational Model) and NA Touch (NeuroAffective Touch).
Therapeutic modalities and interventions:
Somatic Experiencing, developed by Peter Levine, is a body-based trauma
therapy used to decrease the symptoms of shock and stress in the body.
NeuroAffective Touch, created by Aline LaPierre, addresses emotional,
relational and developmental deficits that are difficult to access verbally.
EMDR, developed by Francine Shapiro, utilizes bilateral stimulation of
the eyes to process overwhelming life events.
Couples and Intimate
Partners:
I hold a certificate in Trauma Informed Sex Positive Therapy from Melissa
Fritchle, LMFT. My work with couples is influenced by Esther Perel's work
with erotic intelligence, Ellen Bader's developmental model, Terry Real's work
with patriarchy and power and Stan Tatkin's PACT model.
