I believe that by small, simple, and steady changes in the things we do often, great and marvelous things can be accomplished. My approach to therapy is "Person-Centered and Solution-Focused". Those are smart psychology words meaning that I focus on your personal growth/development and how we can find and use your personal strengths. This will allow us to tap into your personal power to find solutions that really work. True change occurs when we give ourselves permission to look inwardly (which is not an easy thing to do!) and discover the many strengths we have.
The counseling process is, in many ways, an educational experience. You learn more about yourself, you acquire new skills and sometimes, counseling involves learning more about a particular condition (e.g., depression, anxiety, eating disorders). At times, when we believe we know all about ourselves, we become "stuck". Counseling will help you become "unstuck" and bring to your life a sense of freedom and understanding.
Finding the right therapist is tough huh? Tell me about it. I wrote a small bio of my life below in order for you to get to know me more personally. Please feel free to call and ask more questions about my practice and beliefs 561-444-9399.
About me:
I acquired my Bachelors Degree in Psychology with a minor in Marriage & Family Studies from Brigham Young University-Idaho. I then completed my Masters Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Marriage & Family Therapy from Barry University. I am now currently completing my state residency hours for dual licensure in Mental Health Counseling and Marriage & Family Therapy. Having received counseling in my young adult years, I remember what it feels like to "sit in the other seat" and I desire to help individuals and families rediscover harmony in their lives.
Prior to my formal education, I served in the United States Air Force as a Fighter Jet Engine Mechanic. I was honorably discharged from service and desired to serve a voluntary 2-year proselyting/service mission for my church. It was in my missionary service where I learned that I was being "called" to become the counselor I am today.
I currently enjoy spending time with my family. I am happily married to my wife of 7 years and have 3 young children under the age of 5 (yes we have our hands full). We mainly enjoy outdoor activities, singing, dancing, going to restaurants, and eating sweets.
