About Jeff Robinson:

I was born and raised in the suburbs of Detroit, MI and did my undergraduate work at The University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where I received a Bachelor of General Studies--which is basically a liberal arts degree for students who don't know what they want to do.

Armed with my BGS, I moved to New York in the Fall of 1985 and began work for Macy's New York.  Throughout the next 11 years, I held a variety of management positions with Macy's, Bloomingdales, Stern's, Gap, Coach, Eddie Bauer, and Disney.

Facing some painful and personal challenges during this period, I began to reassess exactly what I was doing with my life and what I needed.  I knew what everyone else needed--I just forgot myself in this equation.

So I began doing some volunteer work and eventually decided to apply to Graduate School.  I applied and was accepted into Fordham’s Graduate School of Social Service, took the slow path to graduate, and was awarded an MSW in August 2000.

Since then, I have worked as a caseworker in NYC's foster care system and as a case manager for a local hospital in their HIV/AIDS unit.  The work was difficult, yet rewarding on many levels.  And through this work, I realized that my true passion was in working individually with clients.

My true reward and my passion, is my private practice.  I am very grateful to be doing this work.  It takes courage and trust for new clients to walk into my office and share with a stranger their fears, their hurts, their hopes.

And when you do come into my office, you will meet with someone who has himself experienced fears, hurts and has held out hope that things will change and get better.  And it does.

I named my company The Rivers Flow, because I read a saying a while back, that says "between the banks of joy and sorrow, the rivers flow."   In other words, good and bad stuff in life happens, but we still need to keep moving forward.

Life cannot stop.
