How are you? Are things going as well as you'd like them to? If not, maybe I can help. I understand how challenging day-to-day life can be, and I have the skills and experience to help you manage your mood, your relationships, or whatever else may be bothering you. I have a special interest in working with couples, as well as adults who are struggling with difficult families of origin, addiction, and the effects of addiction, but welcome clients who are experiencing dysfunctional situations of all sorts. I'm also experienced in helping manage the effects of depression, anxiety, stress, chronic pain, autoimmune disorders, and life transitions.
I'm a dedicated health care professional who believes that mental wellness interacts with physical health to produce overall wellbeing, and that counselling can help people feel better and cope more effectively with the challenges they’re experiencing. I also strongly believe in the benefits of stress reduction, and encourage my clients to consider lifestyle adjustments as a means of reducing feelings of unwellness. I operate from the perspective that every individual has the capacity to heal themselves and become healthier and happier along their journey, and incorporate a narrative approach along with mindfulness and other types of therapy in my work.
When working with couples, I focus on the Gottman Method for relationship counselling. By using scientifically proven techniques and principles, the Gottman Method helps to break down the barriers that prevent couples from communicating and bonding effectively. Within our sessions, I help couples build skills and improve the quality of their relationship through the use of research-based interventions and exercises. This method has proven to be highly effective in increasing understanding, affection, and respect between partners, even when the relationship has become riddled with conflict, problems, negativity, uncertainty, and chaos. Please do give me a call, and we can discuss how I might be able to help improve your particular situation.
** I'm currently accepting new clients and offer free initial appointments. My fees are based on a sliding scale and may be reduced; I do not turn people away for financial reasons, and encourage individuals who might benefit from either individual or couples counselling to contact me. **
