About Me 
Kristen Gardenhire is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW #65689) with an extensive background in counseling. Kristen attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo as an undergraduate where her focus was on psychology. She attended the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) as a graduate student where she received her masters in social work (MSW).  Her love for people and joy in being a therapist stand out to clients and co-workers alike. 
Past Experience
Kristen has worked overseas in a variety of countries engaging in anti- human trafficking work with an international organizations. She has been able to apply her clinical knowledge to help those struggling with the effects of trauma during her time overseas. Kristen has also worked in a variety of community settings including group homes, out patient clinics, and home based services with diverse populations. She presently is a supervisor at a trauma counseling center and an adjunct lecturer at the University of Southern California (USC) where she enjoys educating students who will go on to become clinicians themselves. 
Therapeutic Style 
Kristen has a warm and engaging therapeutic style. Her Christian faith is paramount to guiding her clinical practice; while respecting that every client has a different and unique faith journey. Kristen is knowledgeable about many areas including; trauma, sexual abuse, abuse from childhood, depression, anxiety, anger issues, spiritual or faith issues, stress, self esteem, grief, adjustment, emerging adulthood, teens, young children, relational issues, and many more. Kristen is trained and certified in several evidenced based practices including: Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Managing and Adapting Practice, and Seeking Safety. Kristen also has experience with Prolonged Exposure and Restoration therapy. She uses an eclectic mix of  psychodynamic, cognitive behavorial therapy, experiential, attachment focused, relational, and person centered techniques in her therapy.

She believes that therapy is a collaborative process in which the client is an equal part in the relationship. She provides a warm, honest, genuine space for clients to share what is truly going on. She believes that each client is unique and has their own journey into wholeness. Kristen has seen clients improve their relationships, improve their mood, be able to manage feelings, and go on to live happy and whole lives. Kristen loves watching clients experience relief and ultimately restoration during their time in therapy.
