About Me 
Kristen Gardenhire is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW #68689) with an extensive background in mental health. Kristen attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo as an undergrad and the University of California Los Angeles as a graduate student where she received her masters in social work. Kristen is a California native and enjoys living in Los Angeles. Her love for people and joy in being a therapist stand out to clients and co-workers alike. 
Past Experience
Kristen has worked overseas in India doing anti human trafficking work with an international NGO and has also spent some time living in Africa working with orphans and in the schools. Kristen has also worked in a variety of community settings including group homes, out patient clinics, and home based services with diverse populations. She has worked with police officers helping to assist victims of crime and trauma. Kristen currently volunteers with an organization that provides resources to men and women in the sex industry and with a mentoring program that helps homeless families get back on their feet. She has a particular interest in assisting marginalized people groups that do not normally access mental health services. She presently is a supervisor at a trauma counseling center and an adjunct lecturer at the University of Southern California where she teaches classes on children, teens, and families.
Therapeutic Style 
Kristen is actively involved in her church community in Los Angeles. Her Christian faith is paramount to guiding her clinical practice- while respecting that every client has a different and unique faith journey. Kristen is knowledgeable about many areas including; trauma, depression, anxiety, anger issues, spiritual or faith issues, stress, self esteem, reentry, adjustment, emerging adulthood, teens, young children, relational issues, and many more. Kristen is trained and certified in several evidenced based practices including: Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Managing and Adapting Practice, and Seeking Safety. She uses an eclectic mix of CBT, experiential, attachment focused, relational, and person centered techniques in her therapy.

Kristen believes in the power of therapy and all the psychological, emotional, and spiritual benefits it provides. She provides a warm, empathetic, genuine space for clients to share what is truly going on. She believes that each client is unique and has their own journey into wholeness. She sees that clients will struggle and struggle and when they finally decide to get help that get to experience relief and ultimately restoration.
