Lawrence Comprehensive Treatment Center (CTC) is a premier provider of outpatient medication-assisted treatment (MAT). Our treatment center, located in Lawrence, Massachusetts, offers programming for adults age 18 and older who are seeking treatment for addictions to opioids like heroin and prescription pain medications. Medication-assisted treatment has proved to be safe and effective for treating opioid addiction. Decades of research have shown that MAT improves a person’s chance of achieving long-term recovery from opioid addiction. The FDA-approved medications utilized in MAT ease the severe and sometimes life-threatening symptoms associated with opioid withdrawal and can reduce the risk of relapse.

At Lawrence CTC, we can provide patients with prescriptions for methadone and Suboxone. Many people are familiar with methadone. It is an effective medication for the treatment of opioid addiction. However, some people may benefit from taking Suboxone instead of methadone. By offering both types of medications, we are able to help a larger number of people. The specific medication a person is prescribed will be determined after a thorough assessment, during which our team members will gather information about the patient’s history, presenting needs, and the state of their health.

As a comprehensive treatment center, we strive to offer programming that serves each patient’s physical, emotional, behavioral, and social needs. In order to do so, we provide individual and group therapy sessions as part of our patients’ overall treatment plans. In individual therapy, patients work with trained professionals to discuss negative ways of thinking and acting and consider strategies for correcting those thoughts and behaviors. They also have the opportunity to share personal concerns in the privacy of these one-on-one sessions. Counselors provide objective feedback and can help patients develop the coping skills they need to be successful while in treatment and once their time in treatment has come to an end. Group therapy sessions provide patients with an opportunity to connect with other adults who are also working toward recovery. Peers share the ups and downs of their recovery experiences and offer support to one another.

Building a support network is an important part of maintaining long-term recovery. Participation in group therapy sessions gives our patients the chance to form meaningful bonds that can help them avoid relapse. Our outpatient opioid addiction treatment center is not a one-size-fits-all program. We celebrate each patient’s story and strive to meet their unique needs so that they can be successful in their recovery journeys."
