Personal Bio

Professional Background/Personal Biography
Lynne has a Masters of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology and is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the B.C. Association of Clinical Counsellors.  She has been helping individuals, couples, adolescents and families from a diverse range of backgrounds deal with a variety of challenges for twenty five years.  Lynne has specialized training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, Gottman Marriage Therapy and EMDR.  EMDR is a well researched and proven technique used to treat symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress, Anxiety, Guilt, and Depression.  She is also a counselor for the Crime Victims Assistance Program (CVAP), providing therapy for victims and families affected by violence and crime.  Lynne has facilitated groups on trauma, adolescence and relationships and taught a course at Douglas College for five years on working with Adolescents.

Lynne believes that even the most difficult of life’s challenges contain within them opportunities for growth and change.Often at these times it is easy to lose hope and feel defeated.She works collaboratively with her clients to establish clear cut and reachable goals that usually result in a reduction of symptoms and restoration of hope within a short period of time.  Lynne’s approach is grounded in the belief that people change within the context of authentic, caring and supportive relationships.  She helps people to uncover their strengths as well as supports and encourages them to explore themselves in order to make choices that will lead to happier and more fulfilling lives.
