Helping you find wholeness
Christopher has experience as both a counselor and a supervisor of counselors.  He is an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church who is licensed as a mental health counselor (NY and IN), as a marriage and family therapist (NY) and as a clinical addictions counselor (IN).  He has counseled people in a variety of settings: community mental health, private practice, nonprofit agencies and hospitals.  He is experienced working with people individually, within family units as well as other types of groups. Much of this experience has been with children, adolescents and families; however he has also worked extensively with adults, especially around addiction, loss, depression, relationship issues and life direction.
Christopher's work utilizes a spectrum of specialties (please see these listed through the link on this page).  Some of these include the areas listed above in his background experience as well as loss and extended grieving, couples counseling (including outside of traditional marriage or family settings) and consultation with other professionals continuing to work with you.
When you seek help, the focus is on the needs that you have.  During your sessions, Christopher will use a mixture of pastoral counseling approaches and numerous other techniques in which he is trained.  This allows the integration of spiritual issues and dimensions into regular therapy.  The goal is to help you on your journey, as you take steps toward wholeness and peace.
Christopher is professionally active.  He has served nationally as the president of the American College of Counselors and as the chair of the Presbyterian Serious Mental Illness Network.  Locally, his service has included with the Alfred Adler Institute and as the minister at North Presbyterian Church.  He has also taught at Auburn Theological Seminary, Pace University, Mercy College and Fordham University.

Your privacy is strictly protected.  When appropriate, permission will be sought to coordinate with other professionals (medical, counseling or religious) that are involved with you so that people can be involved at an appropriate level.
Periodically, Christopher starts both short and long term groups.  These are offered when several clients have issues that would benefit from working on them together in a group setting.  He is willing to talk with people who have suggestions for groups (such as anger management, smoking cessation, parenting and dialectic behavioral skills).
Clients are seen at our offices on East 40th Street just south of Grand Central or in the Bronx by the intersection of University Ave and Fordham Rd (both near a number of subway and major bus lines).  The office is comfortable, easy to get to and respectful of your confidentiality.
Appointments are available in the morning, afternoon, evening or even on the weekend.  We determine times that work for both you and Christopher or one of his staff.  Flexibility in scheduling is one of the benefits we can offer.
