I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor specializing in treating Anxiety, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Panic Attacks, Social Anxiety, and Eating Disorders (including Bulimia and Binge-Eating). It is common for people to experience an increase in stress and self-doubt during periods associated with major life transitions, and thus I address those issues as well.  Having a background in Marital and Family Therapy, I also work with couples and individuals making the adjustment to parenthood.

To me, one of the most important parts of counseling is the therapeutic relationship itself. I enjoy getting to know people separate from any type of diagnosis they may have received or problems they are currently experiencing. Thus I take a strengths-based approach to my work, meaning that I help you identify positive qualities and abilities you already possess in order to guide you in using those same assets and capabilities to manage intense emotions, improve your self-esteem, and strengthen your relationships.

I commonly use Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques to assist you in understanding how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors all influence one another. Much of what we feel and how we act stems from what we think, either about ourselves or about others and the world around us; by learning how to identify and challenge negative and self-destructive thoughts, we can better handle our emotional reactions in any given situation. Overall I tend to blend a mix of therapeutic styles and strategies in order to best meet your particular needs.

**For individuals with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and other Anxiety Disorders (Panic, Specific Phobias, Social Anxiety), I use both CBT and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) techniques. The combination of CBT and ERP has been proven to be the most effective form of therapy for OCD and Anxiety.**

It takes wisdom to acknowledge and admit that you need help, and it takes courage to actually seek it out. If you have made it this far, I encourage you to give me a call to see how I can help you with whatever it may be that is causing you distress or unrest at this point in your life. Although it can be hard to see at times, there is always hope for the future.
