LIFE IS HARD! And sometimes it's just plain rotten. There ... someone said it. It's normal to not know how to manage challenges that you've never gone through -- or maybe it's something you've been through a number of times and haven't yet found a way to solve the issue. The most important thing to realize is that you're not alone and support IS out there.

WHAT WE CAN WORK ON:
  • Past traumas or PTSD
  • Depression and anxiety
  • Grief
  • Self-worth or self-esteem
  • Suicidal ideation
  • Addictions

WHAT WE WILL DO TOGETHER:
  • Build a strong rapport and trust
  • Tailor-make your therapy plan to your specific history and goals
  • Identify the presenting issues
  • Identify underlying issues that may still be impacting you today
  • Decide which modality would work best for you
  • Proceed at your pace, even if that is baby steps
  • Laugh. It is important to have light-hearted moments too!

POSSIBLE MODALITIES:
  • Stabilization (grounding) tools. Before delving into anything difficult, you will need the skills to manage the emotions that come up
  • EMDR (Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to work on traumas such as childhood abuse, neglect, abandonment, relationship abuse, interpersonal violence
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to minimize those pesky intrusive negative beliefs about yourself that probably sound like someone else's voice
  • Solution-Focussed Brief Counselling for today's pressing issues. Please note: often "today's issues" are triggered by or rooted in past events or relationships
  • Gottman (Level 2 trained). While this is mainly for couples, I have found the skills useful across all ages and all types of relationships, including parents and their children

COST:
  • $150 + GST (total $157.50) per 50 minute session
  • I can provide a receipt for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement
  • Please check with your insurance company to ensure that they cover the "CCC" license (some only cover the "RCC" license)

LOCATION:
  • In-person sessions are in White Rock
  • Online sessions (using Doxy.me) for clients across Canada

AVAILABILITY:
  • Currently accepting new clients (no waitlist)
  • Daytime openings on Fridays and Saturdays; other days may open up
  • Some evenings

EDUCATION:
  • MSc degree in Mental Health Counselling from Walden University, graduated 2013 with 4.0 GPA
  • BA in Sociology from Athabasca University, graduated 2002
  • EMDR trained since 2018
  • Gottman (Level 2) trained in 2021
  • ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) trained in 2022
