My name is Zakia Ovington, and I am a licensed and registered clinical counselor. My specialization is guiding clients through their unique journeys of trauma recovery, emotional well-being, and authentic self-leadership. My practice is deeply committed to understanding and healing, and it is founded on compassion and expertise. At my practice, you will find a safe space for individual exploration and overcoming challenges. I am dedicated to empowering my clients by helping them navigate their paths with resilience and self-awareness, and by unlocking their potential for profound personal growth and a fulfilling life journey. Focusing on three key areas – emotional well-being, trauma recovery, and authentic self-leadership – my practice is dedicated to helping clients manage and navigate complex emotions. I employ evidence-based methods to support deep healing, enabling clients to make decisions that align with their personal values and foster meaningful personal development. My therapeutic approach is integrative and client-centric. This ensures that each client's unique experiences and needs are at the forefront of the therapeutic process. By drawing on evidence-based research and techniques, including Internal Family Systems, Trauma-Informed Stabilization Treatment, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Existential Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, I tailor my support to empower individuals in their healing and self-discovery journeys. I offer a range of services including Individual Counselling, EMDR Counselling, and Couples Counselling, ensuring a comprehensive approach to mental health and relationship dynamics. My academic background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Feminist Theory, a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology, a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, and a Masters of Science in Information Systems. Additionally, I have pursued extensive training in various therapeutic techniques and models, including the Fundamentals of Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Theory and Practice of Group Psychotherapy, an Internal Family Systems Master Class on Complex Trauma and PTSD, Foundations of the Internal Family Systems Model, Trauma-Informed Stabilization Treatment, and EMDRIA Approved EMDR Basic Training. I am also currently pursuing EMDR Certification. Welcome to a space where your emotional and psychological well-being is the priority.
