Have you noticed changes in your child's behavior that concerns you? Perhaps your child has experienced stressful changes and losses in life that make you wonder how well they are coping. Perhaps your child seems more withdrawn and quiet, or maybe he or she seems anxious and worried much of the time. Sometimes, children can be the barometers of how their particular family is coping with the stresses of life. If you have concerns about your child know that help is available. I bring years of experience in the "trenches" and now work with children around 10 years of age or older who may have forgotten how special they really are. Nothing is more precious than the heart of your child!

Therapy with young children may involve at least one parent. Sometimes parents want therapy for young children who need to have limits. Kids can be a handful. Using a behavior modification approach with tools parents can achieve realistic results and a child's behavior can be shaped and improved. How to nourish and discipline simultaneously can be an issue.

I utilize play therapy methods with young children to help them express their emotions in the way that is normal and appropriate for kids, through play! The kids I treat often have a good time while they work through their emotional problems of fear, anger, or sadness towards someone important in their lives. They can work out their aggressions on clay figures and their fears and sadness through paintings. I believe that the indirect approach of play therapy is developmentally appropriate for young children because they are not yet ready for the "adult" techniques of talk therapy.
