I do not specifically practice Christian counseling, but I am a firm believer in the power of faith. Counseling that is informed by faith does not necessarily require a theologian. The primary requirement is compassion. Many spiritual people struggle to find understanding in a progressively faithless world. My approach to therapy is deeply rooted in non-judgment and compassion. I care about what is important to you, your values, your relationships, your faith.

A lifelong Christian, I have deep passion and ability to come alongside others who believe, yet find themselves struggling. My years of experience working with individuals and in personal growth seminars have provided space for Christians to safely and helpfully explore and resolve stressful issues often unaddressed or unwelcome in church - such as anxiety, pressuring expectations, anger, low self-esteem, family and relational conflict, the often secret burden of abuse, the experience of judging or being judged, feelings of "missing the mark," unforgiveness, doubt and disillusionment...to name a few. Through our work together, you can find relief, freedom, hope, meaning and purpose.

I see things through the eyes of faith, hope and love. In our time together, you can be assured that I will work with you from this core. Sometimes it is helpful to know that your therapist has a core belief in the one who made us. I am a therapist who believes and will work with you and for you, on your behalf to bring faith, hope and love into our sessions.

We all have hard seasons, seasons of stuckness and the need for more care. As a strong follower of Christ I understand how important it is to meet with a counselor who understands my values and wants me to have healing and know Jesus in new ways in that process. I love Jesus. I love the Church - but I also recognize the church is full of flawed humans and there is a lot of confusion and "extras" we start picking up by accident about what faith and life in Christ means. One huge area is "shoulds" and pressures that can easily trip you up. Let's untangle the mixture of shame and guilt you have inherited so you can live with more freedom and more of God's grace.

As a Christian it is comforting to know that your therapist has the same beliefs that you do. Feel safe sharing your concerns in a judgement free environment. Be confident that the changes you want to see as a result of working together will be mine as well. Better self esteem, healing from past friendships, couple relationships or family dynamics can be addressed and improved. Anxiety, depression, feelings of failure can all be changed. Understanding what troubles you and how to live differently is what I want to help you achieve. I offer a comfortable and confidential counseling environment. Located conveniently in North Seattle.

I like to consider Christian therapy through a couple of categories. For many years we've confessed sins and truths to God and each other as the church; therapy is a place to be honest and seek what is true without having to hide anything. It's also a lot like what we find in wisdom literature (Psalms, Proverbs, Job and others) where hopes and fears and desires are voiced before God. These things bring us into relationship with God, ourselves, and others. This work is deeply connected to my faith- with it I can offer a helping hand in navigating life's difficulties.

While most Christian Counselors pride themselves on how many Scriptural passages they can recite and how many links they can make from the Bible to psychological disorders, the Christian-centric work of Grey Matters International, Inc.is grounded in one principle: truth. For us, the work is more about truth and transparency of Christ's message and working on the natural laws of accountability and decision making that evolves from that. If one honors God's natural laws of reaping and sowing around the decisions one makes, one is indeed living Scripture to its fullest. We prepare the brain to better maximize the spiritual realities of Christ's words. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
