In working with Addiction, I use a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and EMDR. EMDR is traditionally seen as a technique specifically used in working with trauma. This is true and most of the time, addiction is rooted in trauma so it can be helpful as a dual diagnosis approach. However, EMDR can also be used specifically to help with addictions because it can be used to desensitize triggers for using and help clients maintain sobriety.

Addictions not only impact the person struggling with the substance or alcohol use, but they also greatly impact family systems. I create an inviting, safe space for family members to process through the problems and issues that the addictions have caused in their family systems. Together we explore effective communication strategies, coping tools, boundaries, self-care, and new meaning and purpose in their lives. I use a variety of tools and interventions to help my clients process through the thoughts and emotions that my clients may be experiencing.
