The Friendly Visitors and Shoppers Program run by Senior Services of Stamford is a community driven program that provides companionship and assistance to disabled, homebound, or socially isolated elders in the community. Volunteers help their fellow citizens by assisting them on shopping trips and running errands for them. The program also encourages volunteers to build friendships with they assist and to check on them with regular social visits. The program is completely free; there are no charges, fees, or dues. Pathfinders Camp of Stamford, Connecticut was founded in 2002 by the Mayor’s Youth Services Bureau. It’s a full-day summer day camp, hosted throughout Stamford at various schools including Cloonan Middle School, Hart Elementary School, and Westhill High School. Day camp programs are known to provide social development, improved skill development, and resilience for youth.3 The program is geared toward teaching children physical fitness, teamwork, respect, responsibility, and preparedness. Fun and educational activites, like rock climbing, challenge courses, pottery, hiking, culinary arts, fishing, swimming, and arts and crafts are offered throughout the week. Family Services and Assistance Programs

The Every Child Matters Program-Husky in Stamford, organized by the City of Stamford Social Services Department assists uninsured families so that they may receive medical care. The program aids families in applying to receive access to Connecticut’s HUSKY program. ECM gives one-on-one assistance in determining eligibility to various HUSKY plans as well as assistance in filling out the necessary forms.
