It is my belief that addiction is purely the symptom of underlying pain, shame and hurt. Addicts are people who have found a temporary relief from their problems that has caused long-term consequences and even more problems. I have found that addressing the "real issues" which oftentimes are trauma, abuse and negative life events that were so overwhelmingly difficult that running away or numbing out seemed to be the answer. I combine my training as a Certified Addiction Professional with Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) to resolve the underlying pain and trauma that addiction fails to address to make it easier for clients to enter into full recovery

Nathan has extensive experience in the field of addiction and trauma recovery and has completed training for certification as a Certified Trauma Therapist. He also has personal experience with combating addiction and trauma together as a multiplied force, and processing the trauma that underlies and fuels addiction. I emphasize the importance of compassion, self-acceptance, and addressing underlying pain as key components of recovery. I do not agree with this cultures approach of criminalizing drug use and clearly see how this belief has done a disservice to people who ultimately need healing.
