My psychotherapeutic approach is based on the time-tested intervention that is called cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). CBT helps people understand how their thoughts can control their actions and vice versa. Freud is the father of psychotherapy. However, many things have changed since his day and many of his theories are no longer practiced in therapy. One thing we believe at Gateway that is still true is that the past does often affect the present of people. The past need not define us in the present or determine our future. But it can give us awareness as to why we both do and react to some things now. We work on what we call here the back end and the front end issues to change the things in the present the client wants to change. This tends to result in more permanent behavior change.

My approach to psychotherapy comes from a deep responsibility in helping people grow. I specialize in brining adults to consciousness, healing trauma, and self actualization. With 23 years of practicing and teaching the science of yoga and spirituality I consider this work sacred. I have a limited amount of session per week to give my clients the attention they need. I work regularly on my own self care which allows me to capture my passion and avoid burn out. For over 25 years I have been intentional about my own personal growth and healing. Many of my clients are with me for years and I often hear from past clients years later. Building relationships is the core of therapeutic success.
