As an experienced Christian Counselor and ordained pastor, I’ve supported many men through the grief process. If you’re grieving, I will provide a supportive space for you to process your emotions. Because grief is a normal part of being human, I can’t take it away or rush you through it. However, I can help you identify barriers to grief, and help you prevent the grief process from becoming stuck. I know grief professionally. But I also know grief personally. Losing one of my best friends and my beloved grandparents was hard enough, but facing the untimely death of my father was, and is, a uniquely painful experience. Most of us experience loss at some point in our life. Grief is the reaction to that loss that tends to last months. Bereavement is a type of grief that involves the loss or perceived loss of someone you love. A model developed by Kubler-Ross, explores that different stages of grief (denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and lastly acceptance). However, depending on the individual they may fluctuate from stage to stage or stay in one of the stages. A good mental health clinicians works with individuals to move them along the stages so they can better cope with the loss.
