Life happens. Sometimes we find ourselves in a situation where a change of employment may be necessary. Whether it is an expected transition or the result of unforeseen circumstances, change is difficult and can cause stress related illness. We can assist with making the transition less stressful. Life can be fulfilling and balanced, relationships can be honest and satisfying. Old wounds can heal, self-control can be gained, happiness can be experienced and personal change is attainable. It is hard feeling like you are stuck in a career or like you do not know what to do career-wise. Sometimes, imposter syndrome gets the best of us and thus leads us to self-sabotage. Then, we find ourselves experiencing missed opportunities, regret, angst, and pain. We often ask challenging questions in therapy, so that you can explore and determine whether you want to stay, leave, or grow where you are at (or somewhere else). We explore your potential together and imagine what a healthier situation may look like to you.

I provide career counseling to: those who have been laid off and are looking for a second career as a result of the current economy; those who have a disability and need career counseling as part of their "transition plan"; and/or those who are uncertain about choosing a career, as opposed to just seeking employment or a job. In addition, I provide career counseling to those who are unhappy with their current job/career and are looking for a change. perhaps something more fulfilling and rewarding. What ever the case may be, I assist in examining your strengths and needs and provide guidance; so that you can make a career decision or improve your performance in your present career.

Work can be an enormous source of stress for many people. For some it's a feeling of anxiety to perform under unrealistic expectations, for others it's due to work place conflict or unhealthy work environments. For others it's a feeling that their job just isn't the right fit. The first 20 years of my career I worked in human resources and business consulting for large and small companies and I have 10 years of experience doing workplace counseling and executive coaching. I will help you get to the root cause of your stress and begin to identify changes you can make to improve your work life and lead a less stressful life going forward.

Understanding ones qualities and personality is one key to developing a plan that will result in a satisfying career. Many times clients work to work instead of finding what makes them tick and what creates purpose and meaning in life. Clients settle far to often and become dissatisfied and begin to develope a negative self-concept, which leads to more dissatisfaction.
