As a culture, we do not do well with healthy expressions of anger. Often we are raised to suppress it and then we have limited practice at dealing with big emotion. There is a spectrum of healthy aggression- to keep us safe and to maintain boundaries- and rage- our body's strategy for safety. Anger management is about applying the right "dosing" to maintain boundaries yet not fracture relationships or suffer other losses. I am able to help you learn to regulate your body to be able to apply the appropriate "dose" to be effective and not destructive.

On a scale of 0-10 when you are at a 4, 5 or 6 you are angry, when you are at an 8, 9 or 10 you are in a rage. Rage occurs when one upsetting event piles onto another and another, and you never have time to fully heal from any of them. Rage comes up quicker, builds stronger and lasts longer; you say and do things that you would never imagine at any other time. You see red and don’t care about your reputation, the future, the consequences or what effect it is having on your family or career.
