As a Christian who is also a therapist, I understand how important it is to be able to connect with other Christians at a deeper level--to share struggles, ask/reflect on difficult questions, and experience Galatians 6:2 in action. When it comes to engaging faith in therapy, I'm client led. This tends to look like asking exploratory questions, offering encouragements where relevant, and even offering select faith-based exercises (often mindfulness meditations). It will never look like telling you 'you simply need to pray more, have more faith, etc.', nor telling you what you ought to believe. I will step in with you as a fellow believer (rather than a pastor, etc.).

Christian counseling is pastoral/spiritual counseling which uses psychology and Christian teaching to address issues of the heart and soul. As a Christian therapist I seek to help clients work through psychological and spiritual issues using both traditional therapeutic methods and a philosophy based on traditional Christian beliefs and the teachings of the Bible; I endeavour to honour a client's particular spiritual beliefs and faith. I believe a person's faith is a resource and strength as they journey on their path to wholeness. Consequently I address issues from a spiritually integrated perspective that goes beyond just the physical, psychological and emotional aspects of a client's life

"The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away." Jesus recognized that in the fullness of our lives - there is much suffering. But did Jesus want us to suffer? No, emphatically not! The Christian message directs us to live our lives in a search for the right path. This path is very much a path of hope, compassion and loving kindness- both for ourselves and all others. How do we accept this path and walk it when we are beset by problems on all sides - when we get mixed up with our losses, our hurts, and human frailties. Christian counseling is very much about re-remembering the relief from suffering inherent in the Christian message and seeking your solutions in a non-judgmental context.
