Children often express their experiences and feelings through play, and this becomes an important tool for learning about themselves and others. Children often express and resolve inner conflicts through their play. The therapist helps the child to express and understand the world through play activities - sometimes acting out conflicts and feelings, then interpreting (as appropriate to age) how a similar issue or feeling is present in the child's life.

Young children will sometimes feel a ball of emotions and not understand how to navigate the outlet. Together we can help your child work through the life changes they may be experiencing. Certain changes (i.e., divorce, a big move, new addition the family, etc.) can cause children to act out due to being unable to express themselves productively. We will work together to help your child navigate their life changes, decrease unwanted behaviors, and engage in effective communication to move forward productively.

Our time together is an opportunity to explore strengths, weaknesses, challenges, and desires. Together, we will work to process aspects of your life that may be causing discomfort, frustration, anxiety, depression, or even simply an overall feeling of being overwhelmed. With time and commitment, we can restore a sense of balance and personal confidence, even though it may feel like life is giving you the opposite. Sometimes its difficult to understand our children! That's pretty normal in days like today when there is more peer pressure and family dynamics in place. I have worked with children in a variety of settings for over 25 years. I often go to schools to observe and consult with teachers when necessary. I work with parents on strategies that will enable good communication and understanding of your child. I offer expressive as well as talk therapy for children, adolescents and their families. We work on anger issues, peer pressure, and relationship issues etc. I want you to feel you are heard and have support when understanding your child.
