Current Initiatives

To encourage family involvement and community support of early education and health initiatives for children under the age of five, Mississippi launched the Excel By Five program. The program has four major components, including health and safety, support for parents and families, community involvement, and early education and care programs for children. By focusing on these realms, the initiative can help communities identify the resources that are already available to families, as well as those that are missing, so proper supports can be put in place that foster the development of mentally healthy children and stable families.5
