Depression is usually created by Negative Cognitions learned early in life that form a client's view of themselves, such as "I am unlovable" or "not good enough." Learning can be from verbal scripts or non-verbal sources, such as physical or sexual abuse, bullying, or anger or other dysfunctions in the family of origin. Steve helps clients eliminate depression with the use of Cognitive-Behavioral tools, and to keep it from happening in the future by processing the original sources of negative beliefs through the use of EMDR. Steve will also help clients enlarge their support system and improve interpersonal intimacy to further reduce Depression and improve Self-Esteem.

With depression I want to address the symptoms directly and find out what we can do about the loss of energy, difficulty sleeping, depressed mood, and other symptoms that come with depression. Making a plan is important in keeping depression from getting in the way of your work, lifestyle, and relationships. I also want to explore what some of the root causes of the depression might be so that deeper healing can occur.
