My approach to couples counseling is to create an open and honest space for each individual to be able to express their feelings safely. The goal is to overcome any obstacles that the relationship may be facing and working with the clients to develop their own tools and techniques that they can utilize in their home to strengthen their relationship. I utilize acceptance and commitment therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and emotion focused therapy.

Maintaining a healthy long-term relationship is one of the greatest challenges we face. It is also one of the most important to our general well-being. As we are growing up, there is little guidance about how to have a good relationship. Most of us learn about relationships from watching the model our parents provide...not always the best place to learn. In recent years there has been a lot of research on what works in relationships and what doesn't. Unfortunately, much of what works does not come naturally. I can help you undo some of the damage from years of negative habits, and share the latest findings about how to achieve a happier, healthier relationship.

I focus on a strength-based approach that involves focusing on the positive aspects of the relationship engaging in self-reflection rather than blame.

I have completed Level 3 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and I use Gottman method Couples Therapy in my couples work. These interventions are evidence based and are used to best support the couple. My goal is to help create dialogue and to teach necessary skills to become happier and more fulfilled in your relationship.Couples will learn to communicate in a way that is effective and productive, and will culminate with a sense of feeling validated and understood.

Using the Gottman method, I assist couples in navigating challenging areas of their relationship. The Gottman method helps clients find healthier ways of communicating and puts an emphasis on the couple’s shared experiences and goals. Disagreements are inevitable in a relationship, but couples therapy can provide a different type of insight to a situation and help couples strengthen communication skills so that they can move through life’s challenges with a bit more ease.
