Grief is a process. Dr. Spada will stay with you throughout your process. Each individuals process is very different. Dr. Spada takes an individualized approach to grief work and will make sure she stays with you every step of they way. She will offer compassion, understanding and validation. During your time time of grief, Dr. Spada will provide you with tools and coping mechanisms to support you through your experience.

Gina has an extensive history in providing grief and loss counseling to clients of diverse populations. Gina understands that people can respond to loss in their own ways, and she will make sure her approach is culturally and emotionally sensitive for you as an individual. Gina will provide empathy to help validate and manage the emotional responses you are experiencing and will dedicate the time you need to find peace on your healing journey.

How do you navigate the unimaginable? Children often look to adults, but what if the adults are grieving too? Adolescents may want to “stay strong” for their parents and siblings, but that does not leave room for their own grief. Talk-therapy will provide your teen with the emotional support and space they need. They will learn about the grief process (it is different for everyone, and there is no “right way” to do it) and healthy coping skills. In our work together, they will label their strong feelings of loss and communicate their needs safely. Your teen will have ownership over the entire process. We will go at their own pace. I am here to listen and support them every step of the way.

My philosophy of therapy and change is that change comes from within. As a therapist, I ask a great deal in asking an individual to change, as change is an incredibly difficult task for everyone. The journey of change requires both the client and myself to work collaboratively throughout this journey. It is for this reason that the rapport between the client and myself is critical. I aim to provide all my clients with the space to explore their underlying feelings, thoughts, and behaviors so that they can engage in change.

When you think of grief- does the image of death or loss of a loved one come to mind? What about other types of loss- changes in life, missed opportunities, ending of relationships, noticing physical limitations to aging or health issues? Grief can be the underlying energy that makes use feel heavy, stagnant, frozen. In our work together, I hope to give you a space where you can process the complicated feelings related to grief and help you to move towards validating those experiences.

My approach with grief and loss issues is gentle and respectful of the clients feelings. I strive to help the client process their grief and loss utilizing cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and narrative therapy to process their loss and change their thought patterns. I meet the client where they are at in order to continue gently and In a respectful fashion.

It provides a space for individuals to work through and process the complex emotions surrounding loss.
