I will first address briefly the history of the conflict that brought the couple into counseling and any previous treatment that they have had. Then, I will begin with teaching the couple a different way of communicating to resolve conflicts that will reduce emotionally charged reactions between the couple. My goal is to obtain a successful resolution of conflicts that respects each person's wishes and desires. Sometimes we find that conflicts are triggered by past events of the individual(s) prior to the couple' s history that results in unresolved emotions from the past hijacking our brain in the present. If this is the case I will work with resolving those emotional triggers

I have training in the Gottman method and use this and other evidenced based approaches that are tailored to your specific relationship needs and presenting concerns. We will assess the relationship needs, establish goals and work toward learning skills to help you manage conflict, communicate effectively, deepen trust, and repair hurts and ruptures to help you grow together in your relationship. As a certified Gottman Leader, I provide trainings, conferences and seminars to help provide groups of couples skills to better manage relationships.

I have specialized in couples for over 8 years. I have been trained in multiple forms of couples counseling including the Gottman method. I will help you and your significant other learn how to improve your communication, argue more effectively with less fallout, and learn how to prioritize your relationship. I will not ask you to do Olympic style communication or act like a therapist in your own home. I will simply teach you how to prioritize your relationship to bring back some of the trust and feelings that may have dissipated some over your time together.
