Monica Kettler, M.Ed LPCC-S graduated with her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Ohio University and a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Cleveland State University. She is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in the state of Ohio. Monica is passionate about supporting adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, and grief. Using a person-centered approach, along with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness techniques, she focuses on creating a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship. Monica’s goal is to empower individuals on their journey toward emotional well-being and personal growth.

Grief is often misunderstood in American culture. It is important to understand that grief is best integrated into one's life; however, that doesn't begin until one is able to sit with it and feel it. I walk people through their grief - present, past, or both - in order for them to see it and then be able to allow it to become a part of them in a healthy way.

When clients come to me suffering from grief and loss they all want to know the same thing: "How long will this last?" Unfortunately, there is no way to speed up the grieving process but there are many things we can do to slow it down or put it on hold. No one wants to do that. Nobody wants to grieve longer than necessary. It is my job as a clinician to provide a safe, accepting, compassionate environment for clients to talk about and feel the loss so they can begin to put the pieces back together and start to move forward. I've helped many clients do this over the years and would be honored to help as you walk through yours.

Loss can be from the loss of a loved one through illness or death. Loss can also be associated with a change in life situation; for example a divorce or separation, a loss of a job or career, or a loss associated with change in life due to a decline in physical or mental functioning. These life changing events often become a time to reflect upon the overall meaning in life. It is a time that many people turn toward spiritual beliefs that comfort them and encourage them through these difficult times. This is an area that I will explore with you. If spirituality is not a part of your life experience I will look for beliefs that can sustain and support you through your specific crisis.
