My approach to counseling children involves working individually with the child and also with parents and other family members. I have observed that children's behavior problems are often the result of situations and events happening in the home. I work closely with parents to help them understand their child's behavior. I also offer guidance to strengthen parenting skills. I use a family therapy approach by working closely with the family to help the child change their behavior. The goal of family therapy is to help the child by improving the overall functioning of the family. I teach family members how to communicate their needs and how to support one another in times of crisis.
