Listening in this mindful, compassionate way, to parts holding guilt, shame, anxiety, despair, burdens & conflicts allows for new understanding of conditions needed to heal. IFS teaches you how to soothe your internal system, whenever life challenges occur.

The primary purpose of psychotherapy, as I see it, is to help the client gain insight that will motivate him or her to better their lives. Even if the insight is recognizing the difference between what one can and cannot control, a client learns to focus his or her attention to what can be changed, while learning ways to accept or manage those aspects of life that are out of our control. Furthermore, the goal of psychotherapy is to not make the client into a miniature version of the counselor but to help the client discover whom he or she wants to be in order to lives a fulfilling and rewarding life.
