I practice Christian counselling and fully believe that the Word of God contains all that we need. I depend upon His Word and the power of the Holy Spirit within my counselling practice. I believe that true healing and freedom can only be found in surrendering to the Lord in every area of our lives. He has designed us to be in complete dependancy upon in Him and in doing so can we experience real peace and power to overcome. That being said, I do not over-spiritualize everything. I am not looking for a demon behind every problem, nor do I offer trite Sunday School answers. Simply put, the moral and philosophical framework from which I prescribe is Bible based.

As a Christian, I greatly appreciate how faith and spirituality play a role in our daily lives. Yet God still calls us to be in the world and to experience many different aspects of human life, even things we think God could fix. Making sense of the differences between what we believe God wants and what we face daily can be distressing and lead to despair and depression. Talking about these losses with someone with a similar faith can be vital as we navigate these challenges. When I provide Christian counselling, I work with clients to explore how their faith, values, and beliefs can support their emotional wellbeing, even though I am not personally religious. Clients benefit from sessions with me because I honour their spiritual perspective and integrate it into therapy in a respectful, non-judgmental way. My role is to help clients use their faith as a source of strength, guidance, and meaning while addressing emotional or relational challenges. I help clients reflect on how their beliefs influence their thoughts, emotions, decisions, and relationships.

While most Christian Counselors pride themselves on how many Scriptural passages they can recite and how many links they can make from the Bible to psychological disorders, the Christian-centric work of Grey Matters International, Inc.is grounded in one principle: truth. For us, the work is more about truth and transparency of Christ's message and working on the natural laws of accountability and decision making that evolve from that. If one honors God's natural laws of reaping and sowing around the decisions one makes, one is indeed living Scripture to its fullest. My background being Roman Catholic is the approach that I do when doing spiritual counselling. Although I easily can address any religious background that the person that comes for therapy might have. At the end of the day is about listening to the client needs and in the process also having the client explain their spiritual background to address it properly.

Many people who hold a belief in a higher power find themselves at some point in their life struggling with doubts about their beliefs. Through the process of verbalizing these faith-based doubts, our experience is normalized and we can gain acceptance of our position today. From this acceptance comes possibilities for opening up to new understandings. Additionally, the ability to call upon the belief of something or someone greater than ourselves can offer us immeasurable strength to proactively take care of life's numerous challenges, eventually allowing us to relinquish the outcome to this higher power.
