Clients experiencing grief and loss can often benefit from a supportive therapeutic process. It can allow a space to explore feelings without having to take care of anyone else-it is just for them. Clients can also explore blocks or complications to grieving that might be contributing to their struggle, for instance older traumas, difficulty with feeling or expressing their emotions.

In grief and loss therapy, I approach each client with compassion and empathy as they navigate through the difficult and often overwhelming emotions associated with losing a loved one. My goal is to create a safe and supportive space for clients to express their feelings, explore their grief, and develop coping strategies to move towards healing. I believe that grief is a unique and personal process that varies for each individual, and I tailor my approach to fit each client's needs. Through therapy, clients can expect to gain a deeper understanding of their emotions, develop healthy ways to cope with their grief, and work towards finding a new sense of meaning and purpose in their lives.

Grief and loss are inevitable and an inescapable part of life. Grief can of course include the loss of someone to death, but it can also be ambiguous. Ambiguous loss can include the loss of relationships, family connections, our identities, our careers, or even who we were pre-pandemic? The person’s level of dependency on the departed can also cause complications. The grieving process often involves many difficult and complicated emotions. Yet joy, contentment, and humour do not have to be a lost memory. I work with you to help you recover from grief and loss and find your way back to feeling joyful again.

In today's society, we are expected to "suck it up and move on" in situations related to loss. However, grief has a mind of its own. It shows up when we don't expect it. It comes back when we thought we've dealt with it. Trying to avoid it and numb it out only makes it stronger. Therapy can help you heal. Whether you have lost a loved one through death or a relationship ending, have gone through a difficult life transition or are grieving the loss of something else important to you, we will work together to practice ways to sit with, honour, transform and heal grief in a supportive, non-judgmental and compassionate space.
