The Families in Transition program provided by Tricounty Family Ministries helps families by providing a safe, secure place to live, as well as life coaching to build skills necessary for self-sufficiency. The training and counseling component of the program includes life skills courses that improve decision-making, as well as couples and family counseling to reduce conflicts and build positive relationships. Rural Mission offers a variety of assistance programs for low-income families in the Charleston area. Emergency funding for food, utility payments, and rent is available for when families do not have the means to pay for these necessities on their own. Advocacy services focus on helping families find adequate housing and employment in order to improve family stabilization. Intervention programs help reduce the negative impact of homelessness and financial distress, while basic counseling services help improve family relationships and overall functioning.
