There are Christian Counselors and Counselors that are Christian. What's the difference? Christian Counselors attend a Christian Master's program and learn Biblical teachings to guide you through your therapy. A Counselor that is a Christian is a counselor that is a Christian in his or her own life but may not have been through that type of "formal" training. I am a Counselor that is a Christian. I enjoy working with clients who have a Christian faith if that is an interest for them to use in their process.

C.S. Lewis reminds us that "you have never met a mere mortal". As a Christian counselor, the idea that each of us is created in the image of God has profound implications for how I engage with my clients. When clients more fully embrace their God-given design, including their deepest longings, and also come to recognize some strategies for fulfilling those desires that may be at odds with God's purposes, real growth becomes possible. Happiness in life then becomes the byproduct, rather than the goal, of true progress.

Brian's Christian faith is the central factor in his life, and provides him with strength and hope based on the incredible grace that he finds in Christ. He intentionally sought out training that integrated psychology and Christian theological learning. Though not all of his patients share this faith, or wish to look at their issues through this frame, Brian is trained and glad to address issues from this perspective. Brian is also a member of Christ Community Church in Franklin, and is so thankful for the community of grace that he finds there.

As a believer in Christ I am aware of the principles highlighted in the Bible that integrate a Christian perspective on healthy living. I am prepared to navigate the spiritual exploration that a patient may desire while working out their struggles in a therapeutic setting. I believe the integration of Christianity along with the application of psychological principles lays the foundation and provides a path towards a deeper connection with God and others. This will help the patient develop a deeper understanding of their God given purpose on Earth.
