There are several factors that contribute to childhood and teen depression such as problems in school, grief and loss, illness, bullying and problems with parents. In order to address the child’s needs, I will meet with your family in order to assess and understand the nature of the depression. As adolescents share their feelings about what they are experiencing in their lives, I will work with your child to reduce the symptoms of depression and strive to improve, self-esteem, social skills and help them to develop emotional problem solving skills.

When depression hits, you may feel a lack of energy, enthusiasm, or joy for life. Your body may hurt. Research indicates that counseling is an important part of treating depression. I offer compassionate, respectful care to assist you in breaking free of what is holding you back. We will explore together what can be most helpful to managing and hopefully overcoming this challenge in your life.
