As an experienced Christian Counselor and ordained pastor, I’ve supported many men through the grief process. If you’re grieving, I will provide a supportive space for you to process your emotions. Because grief is a normal part of being human, I can’t take it away or rush you through it. However, I can help you identify barriers to grief, and help you prevent the grief process from becoming stuck. I know grief professionally. But I also know grief personally. Losing one of my best friends and my beloved grandparents was hard enough, but facing the untimely death of my father was, and is, a uniquely painful experience. Grief counseling helps people cope with grief and mourning following the loss of a loved one or due to major life changes that trigger feelings of grief (i.e. job loss or divorce). Our sessions will also emphasize on your communication abilities so that you may better explain your needs and feelings to others who are supporting you. Grieving a loved one, an unfortunate experience that has occurred, or even a hopeful experience that has not occurred, can bring about many emotions. The stages of grief can be complex. I would like to assist you in a nonjudgmental, caring, and therapeutic environment. I use an eclectic approach to counseling. This means that I am trained in numerous therapeutic approaches. In a counseling session we will explore emotional and cognitive barriers, past and present relationships, and collaboratively devise therapy goals.

I am trained as a Prolonged Grief Disorder Therapy (PGDT) provider by the Center for Complicated Grief at Columbia University. The structured protocol addresses "stuck grief" that is marked by an attachment fissure that causes rumination, excessive guilt, loss of former interests and hopelessness 6 months and longer (sometimes many years) after a significant loss. PGDT is evidence-based and has a over a 70 percent efficacy rate for movement into adaptive grief.

Life changes so quickly and sometimes we come to loose loved ones and loved relationships before we were ready. Together we can move from the pain of the loss to begin to see life in a new light, we work towards moving forward without forgetting the important lessons from the past. Sometimes we grieve the loss of loved ones, but sometimes our losses can be a relationship, a job, a friend and through all those we need to find a way of coming to terms and continue living.
