Grief and loss are NORMAL and they happen to every person. The way we deal with loss is what separates us. A lot of the time we associate loss with pain. We program ourselves to stuff such intense, emotional feelings. Stuffing along with judgement of ourselves and the world around us, usually will lead you into a dark place. My goal is to help you view grief and loss in an objective nonjudmental way. We will debunk false beliefs about ourselves, emotions, and learn new ways of dealing with our situations.

The hole you are feeling inside you is understandable and expected. It is hard to keep going, and you've talked with your family and friends so much it's hard to feel like that isn't all you talk about. Let me guide you through this time. As an experienced Christian Counselor and ordained pastor, I’ve supported many men through the grief process. If you’re grieving, I will provide a supportive space for you to process your emotions. Because grief is a normal part of being human, I can’t take it away or rush you through it. However, I can help you identify barriers to grief, and help you prevent the grief process from becoming stuck. I know grief professionally. But I also know grief personally. Losing one of my best friends and my beloved grandparents was hard enough, but facing the untimely death of my father was, and is, a uniquely painful experience. I am trained as a Prolonged Grief Disorder Therapy (PGDT) provider by the Center for Complicated Grief at Columbia University. The structured protocol addresses "stuck grief" that is marked by an attachment fissure that causes rumination, excessive guilt, loss of former interests and hopelessness 6 months and longer (sometimes many years) after a significant loss. PGDT is evidence-based and has a over a 70 percent efficacy rate for movement into adaptive grief.

I will hold space, provide resources, and support clients through this difficult process. I believe there is no time limit on how long it takes someone to move through the grief and loss process. I will support and meet my clients where they are and help guide them towards healing in the process. Encouragement to re-engage with life will provided but not in a forceful and or dismissive manner.

Grief and loss can come in so many forms. Losing someone you love, whether it is from an end to a relationship or death, can be very distressing. It can cause depression and fears that there may not be anything or anyone better of you out there. Therapy can help you not only to learn to take better care of yourself but help you move forward with your life in positive and healthy ways.

Grief & loss are usually considered when we lose a loved one or part ways from a long-term relationship. These circumstances are certainly related to grief & loss, but we should also consider grief & loss in a much broader context. This includes the grief that is felt anytime we suffer a loss of any significant proportion. Often overlooked when considering grief & loss are issues related to losing any integral part of one's identity, transitioning into a new stage of life & leaving the previous stage behind, losing a job or career, or experiencing a loss of a part of one's self (e.g., innocence, confidence, religion, etc.). I use existential therapy & CBT to treat all issues of grief & loss.
