I am trained as a Prolonged Grief Disorder Therapy (PGDT) provider by the Center for Complicated Grief at Columbia University. The structured protocol addresses "stuck grief" that is marked by an attachment fissure that causes rumination, excessive guilt, loss of former interests and hopelessness 6 months and longer (sometimes many years) after a significant loss. PGDT is evidence-based and has a over a 70 percent efficacy rate for movement into adaptive grief.

All people perceive and/or experience loss in their lives. As part of the healing process I support people in transforming these experiences to a place of safety and acceptance. Together we extend the human power to survive and thrive despite adversity. My client's lives are enhanced as the negative impact of loss and grieving is diminished and a positive shift is experienced in their awareness.

Grief is hard. Grief is natural. Animals grieve. Grief is something we feel deep in our bodies and can be disorienting and destabilizing. Grief and loss are NORMAL and they happen to every person. The way we deal with loss is what separates us. A lot of the time we associate loss with pain. We program ourselves to stuff such intense, emotional feelings. Stuffing along with judgement of ourselves and the world around us, usually will lead you into a dark place. My goal is to help you view grief and loss in an objective nonjudmental way. We will debunk false beliefs about ourselves, emotions, and learn new ways of dealing with our situations.

Grief & loss are usually considered when we lose a loved one or part ways from a long-term relationship. These circumstances are certainly related to grief & loss, but we should also consider grief & loss in a much broader context. This includes the grief that is felt anytime we suffer a loss of any significant proportion. Often overlooked when considering grief & loss are issues related to losing any integral part of one's identity, transitioning into a new stage of life & leaving the previous stage behind, losing a job or career, or experiencing a loss of a part of one's self (e.g., innocence, confidence, religion, etc.). I use existential therapy & CBT to treat all issues of grief & loss.
