My mission:
I devote my professional life to helping children, teens and adults find more satisfaction: in their lives, in their relationships.

Witnessing in my work how people who felt once stuck in life and relationships become increasingly more 'at ease' with themselves and more 'connected' with their loved ones, is a powerful experience.

Although this process is not always easy, it is certainly not without humor, playfulness and joy. It is a worthwhile experience that I would wish anyone who currently feels 'at a loss.'

My work with children and parents
For more than 20 years I have been working with children and their parents. My approach focuses on addressing the root of the child’s presenting emotional or behavioral problem in a safe and a non-judgmental environment. This provides the child and the family with long term benefits and allows the child to move forward, truly in sync with his or her natural growth and developmental process.

I keep abreast of current developments in the field and am connected with excellent child therapists on a national and international level. I am dedicated to providing parents and children with excellent care.

My work with adults
I also maintain a practice for adults who want to start breaking away from old patterns that are holding them back, and that are getting in the way of the life and relationships they want.

My approach is rooted in the tradition of Lacanian Psychoanalysis, in which I have been trained and continue to be trained nationally and internationally. Lacanian psychoanalysis is prominent in Europe and South America, and is growing in presence in the US, with an increasing number of conferences, schools.

This approach is not the promise of a quick fix, but it allows for true change in how people live, love and work. It offers also hope for people for whom former attempts at therapy did not provide the hoped for change in their actual lives, or who gained only short term relief through therapy.

My background and credentials:
I am originally from Belgium but have lived in Chico, CA since 2002. I have obtained advanced degrees related to psychotherapeutic work in both Europe and the US. I was educated as a Clinical Psychologist at the University of Ghent, Belgium and I hold an MA in Counseling Psychology from the Wright Institute in Berkeley. I have had experience in various clinical settings working with children and adults on both continents since 1999 and I am currently licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist in California. I offer an approach that is unique for this geographic area.
